Permanently:
VIA REGIA – Geoinformation system (VIA REGIA-GIS)

Intensive work is carried out in the project area VIA REGIA on subjects like spatial planning, history, art and culture as well as economy. If we succeed in transforming the information from individual projects, traces, initiatives to a common European memory intelligence and a European space for action, than

  • Regional and national project can be internationalized,
  • Spaces and regions can be interrelated with each other,
  • The information can be published in European media.

Synergies and networks will be formed that will be able to utilize existing potential, projects and spaces more efficiently and more sustainably thus bringing more attractiveness to the VIA REGIA corridor for markets and publicity from abroad.

All different kinds of information are connected to geographical areas. In case of questions concerning location, distance and space of action the geographical information plattform Geoinrofmation System (GIS) VIA REGIA publishes any answers by connecting contents to geography.

The following information is given in the VIA REGIA GIS in order to communicate the VIA REGIA corridor and adjacent regions and landscapes:

  • Basic information on locations and landscapes,
  • Current descriptions of autobahns, federal highways, ordinary roads, footpaths and places to rest, cycle trails and garages, historical paths / ancient roads.
  • Art and cultural sites
  • Centres of information and meetings
  • Architectural monuments and natural beauties
  • Accommodation
  • Restaurants
  • Different sports facilities
  • Regional particularities
  • Historical events.

There are actually 176 different kinds of objects embedded in the VIA REGIA GIS and freely accessible for every user.

The next step will be to offer a user-friendly interface (frontend) to external partners running institutions within the VIA REGIA corridor in order to give them the opportunity to enter own contributions into the system without regional or time restrictions.

The frontend system will consist of a form system enabling partners and public users to enter, alter and complete, respectively, own information/objects into the GIS without detailed knowledge on programming and data base skills. This system is still under development.
